Show Notes
In this 50th episode of the podcast, Matthew and Cindy explore the language of standards.
Matthew speaks to Lucie Carter, Mary Groom, Andy Barrett and Kevin Laverty from BSI’s editorial team. Between them they have over 40 years of standards editing experience and have edited hundreds of standards. The editorial team has the final word, on the words, that make up British Standards.
They take Matthew inside the editing process, describing some of the precise and particular language used in standards. And describe how disagreements are resolved about the words, or in some cases a single world, to reach consensus on the final text.
In this episode there’s also a Standards Desks of News, with stories about electrotechnical engineering, cycling, and....toilets.
